Care at its core

Yaringaa Community Building.

The project: On the Central Coast, many ageing people depend on local community services to maintain an independent lifestyle. Several of these services shared a common building in Woy Woy – a space that was dark, underutilised and in great need of renovation.

The challenge: Artel was engaged to reinvent the existing community building as “Yaringaa” – a modern, spacious place designed to support key community services.

The scope: Set on 700m2, the original building was upgraded to cater to the needs of three distinct groups: Community Care Services Central Coast, the Peninsula Community Centre and Gosford City Food Services. Redesigned to function more efficiently, the new building is now filled with light and activity – and boasts additional facilities including a purpose-designed day care, office and meeting rooms, and a modern new space for Meals on Wheels.

The result: Completed over a period of ten months, the Yaringaa renovation has transformed the environment in which Central Coast community services operate, and has raised the standard of care available to the community as a whole.
