Founded in 1981, Artel Constructions has established an exceptional track record in Sydney, The Hunter and Central Coast Regions. Attuned to the needs of both architects and project managers and their clients, we take great pride in the impeccable product we deliver – and the professionalism and care we maintain along the way. 

It is our belief that realising an architectural vision takes passion, commitment and unwavering attention to detail. So, through our sound process and strong ethos, that is precisely what we deliver. Not only are our directors involved with every project, we also have proven, collaborative relationships with sub-contractors and consultants. As a result, we always have complete confidence in our onsite teams and the standards they maintain.

With over three decades of experience as a Prequalified and Best Practice accredited NSW Government contractor, Artel has delivered countless high quality projects for the public sector. Over time, our focus has broadened to encompass all types of buildings, from commercial and industrial, to medium-sized residential. Whatever the project, our approach remains consistent: focused, passionate and professional.

With its origins in pre-revolutionary Russia, the word ‘artel’ means a cooperative association of craftsmen – an apt way to describe our business. At Artel we are united by a shared passion for our craft and genuine commitment to delivering exceptional results. It is this ethos that holds us together and sets us apart.

It’s been our conscious choice to maintain Artel’s boutique size and structure. Our highly experienced senior team has worked together for decades and we understand exactly how to support and enhance each other’s skills. With this strong backbone, we can have close involvement and complete control over the projects we deliver – and remain accountable and accessible every step of the way.

 

 

 
 

Dell. S. Gill
– Managing Director

Since founding Artel in 1981, Dell has provided the business with a clear vision from day one. Having spent over 40 years working in the construction industry across India, Africa, the Middle East and Australia, Dell’s experience has been invaluable in establishing Artel as the reputable company it is today. With his strong interest in place-making, Dell is proud to have led Artel in delivering a large number of community infrastructure projects both within Australia and abroad. Now, having handed Artel’s day-to-day operations to his son Fyaz, Dell continues to support the team in a senior management capacity.

 



Fyaz Gill
– Director & Construction Manager

Since joining the company in 1994, Fyaz has given Artel strong direction and leadership, enabling the business to go from strength to strength. With his clear, collaborative approach, Fyaz is particularly skilled at forging strategic relationships with clients and contractors alike, and prides himself on bringing out the best in his team. A keen visualiser, Fyaz also has a unique ability to anticipate the challenges that come with each stage of delivering a project – and solve problems before they even have the chance to occur.



Raija Thapper
- Contract & Financial Manager

With a background in legal and financial management, Raija brought a wealth of skills to Artel when she joined the team 25 years ago. Along with her strong financial and administration skills, Raija has a great knack for managing relationships – both within the Artel team and with external stakeholders. For Artel, this means daily operations are streamlined, smooth and efficient.

 



David Johnston
- Project Manager

Prior to joining Artel in 2010, David was a contract administrator in Vancouver, managing a $150m residential development. That experience gave him a strong appreciation for detail and a meticulous work ethic – qualities that make him a great asset to the Artel team. David is now integral in the delivery of every Artel project, specifically estimating, project management and compliance. Hardworking and team-focused, David enjoys nothing more than seeing a project through to completion.

 



Scott Lester
- Project Manager

Scott has been part of the Artel team for over a decade. During this time, his practical experience and strong drive have seen him rise to the role of Project Manager – where he now works to ensure Artel’s projects are delivered every time. With his astute decision-making and leadership skills, Scott is a natural manager. He prides himself on developing close rapport with both clients and contractors, allowing him to meet (or exceed) expectations on all fronts.



Site teams

In addition to Artel’s core team, we have a large number of sub-contractors who work with us on a regular basis. These proven working relationships enable our on-site teams to gel easily and work as efficiently as possible.
